Falconry - Period of prosperity

Falconry, hunting with birds, is one of the most spectacular forms of hunting. Falconry is the art to control the bird in such a way that it is able to catch a  wild free prey.

For many centuries, from the 14th to the 19th century, falconry was used for the entertainment of rich aristocrats and royals. Falcons are used for the high flight on birds : the peregrine falcon and the larger gear falcon are the favourite birds here. For hunting on low flying birds and running animals wild hawks and sparrow-hawks are used.
